About
The Air Ambulance Service

Founded in 2003, The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS) is a UK-based charity delivering emergency medical services through helicopter operations. It manages two regional services—Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) and Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA)—covering approximately 3,850 square miles. These services respond to various emergencies, including road traffic collisions and medical incidents, with an average response time of 13 minutes. Additionally, TAAS operates the national Children’s Air Ambulance, a specialized transfer service for critically ill infants and children, collaborating with NHS teams across the UK. In 2023, TAAS reported an income of £38.17 million, primarily from donations and trading activities, and an expenditure of £34.41 million. The organization employs over 400 staff and is supported by more than 1,200 volunteers. Committed to providing lifesaving care, TAAS operates without government funding, relying entirely on public and corporate support.
