We're looking for a passionate software engineer with strong Identity expertise who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, developing production-quality software and influencing engineering decisions.</p><p>You'll have the opportunity to shape the future of Identity at Holland &amp; Barrett, working with modern technologies, including Keycloak, while helping establish the standards, tools and capabilities used across our Engineering teams.</p><h4>The Role</h4><p>As a Senior IdAM Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing a modern, federated Identity Platform that enables our teams and partners to integrate authentication and identity capabilities securely and efficiently.</p><p>Working collaboratively across Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure and Security, you'll take ownership of technical solutions from initial design through to production.</p><p><strong>Your key responsibilities will include:</strong></p><ul data-spread="false"><li><p>Design, build and enhance scalable, secure and reusable Identity Platform services, APIs and integrations.</p></li><li><p>Develop production-quality software, automation and tooling that simplifies Identity integration across applications.</p></li><li><p>Design and implement authentication, authorisation, Single Sign-On (SSO) and federation solutions.</p></li><li><p>Evaluate and work with modern Identity technologies, including Keycloak, to support our long-term platform strategy.</p></li><li><p>Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate platform infrastructure and configuration.</p></li><li><p>Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across applications, authentication flows, infrastructure and Identity services.</p></li><li><p>Improve platform reliability, observability, performance and security.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to deliver consistent Identity solutions and reduce bespoke implementations.</p></li><li><p>Lead technical discussions, contribute to architecture decisions and champion engineering best practices.</p></li><li><p>Mentor and support fellow engineers, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.</p></li></ul><h4>What We're Looking For</h4><p>We're looking for an experienced engineer who combines strong software development skills with deep technical knowledge of Identity and Access Management.</p><p><strong>What You'll bring:</strong></p><ul data-spread="false"><li><p>Significant experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Backend Engineering, Security Engineering or Identity Engineering.</p></li><li><p>Strong programming skills, with experience building production services, APIs and integrations.</p></li><li><p>Hands-on knowledge of Identity protocols, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC) and SAML.</p></li><li><p>Experience designing and implementing SSO, MFA, federation, authentication and authorisation solutions.</p></li><li><p>Experience with modern Identity platforms such as Keycloak or comparable technologies.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, distributed systems and Infrastructure as Code.</p></li><li><p>Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring and production troubleshooting.</p></li><li><p>Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues and identify root causes.</p></li><li><p>Confidence in evaluating technical approaches, challenging requirements and communicating engineering trade-offs.</p></li><li><p>A collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence technical decisions and support other engineers.</p></li></ul><p><strong>It would be great if you also have:</strong></p><ul data-spread="false"><li><p>Hands-on experience with <strong>Keycloak</strong>, including custom extensions, identity brokering, federation, scaling or high availability.</p></li><li><p>Experience developing software using <strong>Go</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Experience with <strong>Terraform</strong> and infrastructure automation.</p></li><li><p>Experience supporting large-scale Identity services across customer-facing and workforce applications.</p></li></ul><p>Above all, we value strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity and the ability to solve real-world problems.
