With over 280 stores nationwide the right candidate will lead our plant ranges in our retail channel. Playing a pivotal role in shaping seasonal ranges, driving commercial performance and delivering great value for our customers.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong>:</p><span><ul><li>Develop the seasonal plant category, aligning to business objectives in driving sales, managing stock holding and upholding margin.</li><li>Managing supplier relationships across the UK and Europe through regular communication and site visits, negotiating strongly to ensure value for money is balanced with high product quality.</li><li>Plan and manage delivery schedules through the season, compliant with plant import regulations and domestic requirements, securing sufficient stock volumes whilst carefully managing and minimizing category wastage.</li><li>Reacting to seasonal demands, identifying risks, and finding solutions to maintain availability and sales throughout the year.</li><li>Monitor market trends, customer requirements, competitor activity and product innovation, regularly analysing sales and suggesting ways the range could be improved.</li><li>Create promotional plans across the yearly calendar and develop these with our Social and Marketing teams.</li><li>Support the Gardens Buyer with ongoing projects linking Plant category into the wider Gardens department.</li></ul></span><p><strong>Person Specification</strong>:</p><span><ul><li>Proven retail buying experience with experience of seasonal/perishable goods.</li><li>Strong negotiation and commercial skills, with excellent attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to recognize new trends, analyse data and forecast demand for seasonal peaks.</li><li>Excellent organisation and communication skills with a commercial eye</li><li>Positive attitude, ability to thrive in fast paced business and work under pressure</li><li>Strong IT and Data Management Skills, including use of Microsoft Office software.</li><li>Comfortable working both individually and with a team.</li><li>Must be able and willing to travel across the UK and Europe for trade shows and supplier/store visits.</li></ul></span><p><strong>What we offer:</strong></p><span><ul><li>A collaborative team culture with opportunities to innovate and make an impact</li><li>Professional development and progression in a growing business</li><li>Employee discount across a wide range of products</li><li>Market competitive salary, holiday and pension</li><li>Flexible starting hours and potential for Hybrid working</li><li>Long service awards</li></ul></span><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Position: </strong>Permanent, Full-time</p><p><strong>Salary</strong>: Competitive dependant on experience</p><p><strong>Hours:</strong> Monday – Friday, 08:45am – 17:30pm.</p><p><strong>Location: </strong>Plymouth, Devon.</p></div><div class="row" style="margin-top: 5vh;"><div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-4 col-sm-offset-4">
