Joining the UK’s number one trade kitchen supplier, you will work alongside industry experts where you will build experience and skills that will help you thrive in your early career. You will contribute to continuous improvement by developing and applying your engineering skills across projects ranging from £1k to £10m, covering everything from production line enhancements to the installation of new processes and plant.</p><p>Howdens has been a fantastic place for Placement Students for more than 10 years. Our engineering placement programme is designed to give you valuable hands‑on experience and skills, with the potential to secure a permanent role through one of our graduate opportunities once you complete your studies.</p><p><strong>What we can offer you:</strong></p><p>As an Engineering Intern, you will join us for 12 months on a salary of £24,800 per year, working onsite five days a week. You will receive 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, access to employee well‑being support, a free daily lunch at our on‑site canteen and invitations to our exceptional reward and recognition events.</p><p><strong>Am I eligible for this programme?</strong></p><ul><li>Our placement programmes are for university students currently studying towards a degree ideally in a mechanical, electrical, manufacturing or a related engineering field, who are seeking a 12-month sandwich placement before their final year of study</li><li>You must be able to undertake your placement between July 2026 and August 2027</li><li>You must live within a commutable distance to our Howden site</li><li>Be a confident communicator and be able to work well within a team</li><li>Possess excellent attention to detail with a natural desire to problem solve</li><li>Be able to work collaboratively with others and be solutions-focused with a positive outlook</li></ul><p><strong>Application and Assessment Process</strong></p><p>Your application will be reviewed carefully, and all applicants will receive a response.
