We're looking for a Social Media Executive to join our team in November for 6 months. As the social media team, it's our responsibility  to make Wickes relevant for the next generation of DIY lovers, bring to life our Kitchen and Bathroom proposition and highlight our great offers and discounts for the Trade. Wickes is a household name in the UK, known for our expertise in the home improvement industry. We got here through our great service, our range of products and a whole heap of creativity when it comes to our marketing to help the nation feel house proud. This role would be ideal for a graduate or someone early in their career in social media or marketing. We’re looking for someone immersed in social media who is ready to put this knowledge into practice and generate sales, enquiries and engagement for Wickes.  The chosen candidate will gain experience in planning, content creation and analysis across the Wickes social media channels, with direct access and exposure to key partners such as Meta, Pinterest and Reddit, and support from our agencies. The role is based at our support centre in Watford, however operates flexibly, with the successful candidate working collaboratively in the office, in store, or at one of our key partners for at least 3 days a week (generally Tuesday - Thursday).It’s 50 years since we opened our first store in 1972, and we currently have over 230. It’s the reason why we have been able to consistently expand our customer offering and thrive even during challenging economic times.What you’ll be doing:<ul style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Ideate and then create a compelling content plan that aligns with our business objectives and engages customers across all of our social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Pinterest and more.</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Responsible for organic content creation (including copywriting and editing images/videos/reels/stories) with a focus on the DIY and trade side of the business. As well as hands-on content creation, you’ll also work with our in-house studio team to create content from brief to delivery.</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Schedule content to post across all of our social media platforms, ensuring it’s relevant, engaging and 100% accurate.</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Encourage our customers to share their DIY and Kitchen & Bathroom projects with us on social media, so that we can champion their images and videos across our marketing channels. You will be responsible for curating the UGC content that we use across our channels.</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Be immersed in the social media world, always keeping one eye on what’s happening and proactively suggesting relevant content ideas. </li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Produce an insightful monthly organic report, ensuring our successes and learnings are shared with internal stakeholders.</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Assisting in the execution of our social media competitions.</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Support the social media team with our paid and organic marketing campaigns.</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Assist in responding to requests from influencers and content creators.</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Be the first line of response for our 8 community management colleagues who respond to all of our comments and queries across all social media and review platforms.</li></ul> What we’re looking for in you: <ul style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">At least 1 year+ of social media experience (in a professional/work context)</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Ideally, a graduate with a business or marketing degree (or similar)</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Incredibly organised, reliable and responsive</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Proactive and able to juggle multiple projects</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Proficient in content creation platforms such as Canva or Adobe Express</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">A natural networker - outgoing, confident and great at building relationships</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Quick to pick things up and enjoys the dynamic pace that retail offers </li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Comfortable creating and featuring in video content - from TikToks to Reels</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Great at writing copy tailored to each platform</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Meticulous attention to detail</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Good analytical skills with the ability to draw insight from data</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">A team player</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Happy to be flexible and get involved in any task where we may need you</li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Comfortable using social media content and planning tools such as Sprinklr, Hootsuite or Sprout Social (beneficial)</li></ul> What can we offer you?You’ll be supported with fantastic learning and development.
