If you’ve got a keen eye for accuracy, a solid understanding of payroll legislation, and a passion for delivering a smooth service, this could be the perfect role for you.</p><p style="margin:0px;font-size:inherit;padding:5px 0px;">As a <strong style="font-weight:700;">Payroll Specialist</strong>, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running and submission of payrolls for around 11,000 colleagues across the UK and ROI. You’ll make sure everything is processed efficiently and on time—from statutory deductions and HMRC returns to pensions and employee benefits. You’ll also support the wider payroll team, helping to improve systems and processes while keeping service delivery seamless for everyone involved.</p><p style="margin:0px;font-size:inherit;padding:5px 0px;">This is a hybrid role combining some days working from home and some at our support centre in Wakefield (2-3 days per week), with great links to the M1 and free parking.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin:0px;font-size:inherit;padding:5px 0px;"><strong style="font-weight:700;">What you’ll be doing:</strong></p><p style="margin:0px;font-size:inherit;padding:5px 0px;">You’ll take ownership of monthly payroll processing, making sure it’s accurate, reconciled, and submitted on time. You’ll maintain and update employee records, process starters, leavers, timesheets, and absences, and carry out checks using audit and exception reports. You’ll ensure all statutory and non-statutory deductions are correctly handled and paid to the right organisations, including pensions, SAYE, and Salary Finance. You’ll be the go-to person for day-to-day queries and escalations, and you’ll play a key role in improving payroll systems and processes. You’ll also support the development of your team and work closely with HR and other departments to shape a payroll service that meets business needs.</p><p style="margin:0px;font-size:inherit;padding:5px 0px;"><br></p><p style="margin:0px;font-size:inherit;padding:5px 0px;"><strong style="font-weight:700;">What we’re looking for:</strong></p><ul style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:10px;"><li style="font-size:inherit;">A CIPP qualification (or working towards it), or solid recent experience in a payroll processing environment.</li><li style="font-size:inherit;">Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation including PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, salary sacrifice, and benefits in kind.</li><li style="font-size:inherit;">Experience managing high-volume, complex payrolls with accuracy and efficiency.</li><li style="font-size:inherit;">Advanced Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables) and experience using integrated HR, Payroll &amp; Finance systems.</li><li style="font-size:inherit;">Great communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders across the business.</li></ul></div><!-- Hiring Organisation --><div><p>Sportswift Ltd T/A cardfactory</p></div><!-- Apply Button --><a href="https://careers.cfjobs.co.uk/members/?j=28760&amp;lang=en&amp;" class="btn btn-apply applybottom">Apply<i class="fas fa-chevron-right"></i></a></div>
