Collaborating with retail operations, IT, supply chain and commercial colleagues to obtain accurate information, validate data, investigate discrepancies and monitor shrinkage, you’ll be ensuring financial accuracy in reporting and compliance, supporting strategic decision making through reliable inventory data and enhancing our customer experience by supporting us having optimum stock levels.</p><p>A full job description is available on request, but to summarise your key responsibilities as our Inventory Accountant:</p><ul><li>Maintain accurate stock records across all systems and locations.</li><li>Reconcile stock balances between ERP, POS, and warehouse systems.</li><li>Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies and variances.</li><li>Monitor stock adjustments, write-offs, and transfers.</li><li>Liaise with store managers and warehouse teams to validate stock counts.</li><li>Prepare monthly stock reports and journals for financial reporting.</li><li>Support month-end and year-end close processes related to inventory.</li><li>Assist in stock audits and physical inventory counts.</li><li>Analyse stock ageing and obsolescence trends.</li><li>Collaborate with procurement and merchandising teams on stock valuation.<br> </li></ul><p><strong>The Skills – Inventory Accountant </strong><br><br>To be successful in this role, you’ll need the following skills, experience and qualities:</p><ul><li>Proven experience in a stock / inventory accounting role.</li><li>Experience in retail or FMCG environments required.</li><li>Proficient with VBA and familiar with ERP and POS systems.</li><li>Exposure to stock audits and reconciliations.</li><li>Relevant accounting qualification such as ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.</li><li>Strong analytical and numerical skills.</li><li>Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, SAP).</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with non-finance stakeholders.</li><li>Organised and able to manage multiple priorities.</li><li>Share our values of being: Wise, Focused, Genuine, Eager, Together</li></ul><p><strong>About Jollyes Pets</strong></p><p>Jollyes are an award-winning UK pet retailer with over 100 stores and over 50 years of pet expertise between our paws.
