<h2>About the role</h2><p><strong>About the role</strong><br>&nbsp;We have an exciting opportunity for a driven sales-focused business developer to play a pivotal role in growing our rapid grocery delivery network across the South of England. You’ll be at the forefront of retailer acquisition and sales growth, working alongside a high-performing team of BDMs and RDMs to expand our footprint and maximise sales performance.</p><p>This isn’t just about building pipelines it’s about closing deals, growing accounts, and driving revenue while helping us to succeed in the fast-moving world of rapid grocery delivery. You’ll build strong partnerships, unlock sales opportunities, and bring the energy and focus needed to deliver against ambitious growth targets.</p><p>This is a hybrid role, splitting your time between home and travelling to external retailers.</p><p><strong>About Scoot</strong><br>&nbsp;Scoot is a food delivery platform transforming the way communities shop, offering an innovative rapid grocery delivery platform designed to keep up with today’s on-demand lifestyles. Backed by Booker Group and supporting symbol brands like Premier, Londis, Budgens, and Family Shopper, we’re on a mission to help local retailers thrive in the fast-evolving grocery landscape.</p><h2>Main Responsibilities</h2><p><strong>You will be responsible for</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Driving Sales Growth:</strong> Proactively identify, pitch, and onboard high-potential symbol stores to the Scoot platform, ensuring strong conversion and sustainable performance.</li><li><strong>Retailer Acquisition &amp; Onboarding:</strong> Own the end-to-end sales process, from prospecting and pitching through to contract negotiation and onboarding.</li><li><strong>Maximising Performance:</strong> Develop sales and marketing strategies to increase order volume, basket size, and platform profitability across your network.</li><li><strong>Leveraging Food Delivery Expertise:</strong> Bring insights and learnings from working with leading <strong>food delivery platforms&nbsp;</strong>to help retailers compete and thrive in a digital-first, on-demand world.</li><li><strong>Building Commercial Partnerships:</strong> Develop trusted relationships with retailers, supporting them to unlock new revenue streams and stay competitive.</li><li><strong>Using Data to Sell Smarter:</strong> Analyse sales and delivery data to identify opportunities, shape commercial conversations, and close more deals.</li><li><strong>Staying Competitive:</strong> Monitor the food and grocery delivery landscape, using market trends to strengthen our sales approach and stay ahead of the competition.</li></ul><h2>You will need</h2><p><strong>You will need</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Proven Sales Background:</strong> A strong track record of exceeding sales targets in business development, account management, or territory sales.</li><li><strong>Food Delivery Platform Experience:</strong> Experience working with or selling into <strong>on-demand/food delivery platforms</strong> (Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Just Eat, etc.), with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities they bring for retailers.</li><li><strong>Grocery/Retail Knowledge:</strong> Familiar with the grocery sector, wholesale, or convenience retail, ideally with experience scaling on-demand platforms.</li><li><strong>Stakeholder Management:</strong> Skilled at winning buy-in and influencing business owners, managers, and decision-makers in B2B environments.</li><li><strong>Data-Led Sales:</strong> Confident in using sales metrics, KPIs, and performance data to drive commercial outcomes and close opportunities.</li><li><strong>Communication &amp; Negotiation:</strong> A persuasive and engaging communicator with excellent presentation and negotiation skills.</li><li><strong>Resilient &amp; Results-Oriented:</strong> A proactive self-starter with a solutions-focused mindset, motivated by hitting and exceeding sales targets.</li></ul><h2>What's in it for you</h2><p>At Booker, along with being a great place to work and giving you an opportunity to get on in your career, we also offer the following fantastic package of benefits:</p><ul><li>A Booker colleague card with 10% off purchases at Booker and double discount events up to three times a year.</li><li>After 3 months service, a Tesco colleague discount card with 10% increasing to 15% off most purchases at Tesco for a 4 day period after every four-weekly pay day, ie. thirteen times a year.
