Since opening Shoreditch Grind in 2011, we've expanded across London with cafés, coffee trucks and a state-of-the-art coffee roastery. Whether it's through creating the UK's first compostable coffee pods, our plastic-free packaging or carbon-free shipping - we're on a mission to be the world's most sustainable coffee company.</span></p><p><span>In 2023, we created our charity, the Better Coffee Foundation, to undo the damage done by the global coffee industry - in our first year, we recovered 43 million pods' worth of ocean-bound plastic.&nbsp;</span></p><br><p><span>A bit about the role.</span></p><p><span>We're looking for a talented and driven Product and Packaging Designer to join our brand team. This role will bring creative energy and commercial awareness across our omnichannel business including Retail, Grocery, B2B and DTC. In this role, you’ll develop standout packaging that connects with consumers, performs both on shelf and online, and aligns with our brand strategy. You'll work across multiple formats and channels, collaborating closely with marketing, production, and external partners to deliver high-impact, print-ready designs that balance creativity with real-world functionality.</span></p><p><span>Responsibilities.</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Develop original, impactful packaging concepts across a range of consumer touchpoints, with a focus on physical packaging, POS, and retail shelf visibility.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Create and contribute to high-quality visuals and mockups using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and 3D rendering software.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Produce accurate CAD drawings and comprehensive tech packs, ensuring designs are production-ready and aligned with brand and technical requirements.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Bring a strong eye for typography, layout, and brand storytelling, with a passion for elevating design craft across all packaging formats.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Present creative ideas clearly and confidently to stakeholders, internal teams, and clients— earning trust while challenging the status quo.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Champion the end-to-end consumer experience, turning brand strategy and shopper insight into compelling, on-brand packaging solutions.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Collaborate closely with brand, marketing, production, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and production-ready.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ensure all designs are aligned with retail, grocery, and supermarket channel requirements, including shelf appeal and planogram fit.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Working with technical teams to ensure labelling is compliant with all regulations.&nbsp;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Conduct competitive shop analysis in collaboration with Product Developers to inform design direction and market positioning.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Maintain a deep understanding of packaging formats, materials, print processes, and sustainability trends to guide innovation.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Work efficiently under tight deadlines, managing multiple projects while ensuring design quality, brand consistency, and timely delivery.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Stay curious and proactive — regularly researching category trends, competitor packaging, and emerging design and consumer behavior insights.</span></p></li></ul><p><br></p><p><span>You’ll have.</span></p><ul><li><p><span>An eye for creative concepting, with the ability to develop original, eye-catching packaging ideas that align with brand strategy.</span></p></li><li><p><span>A strong understanding of consumer insight, designing with the end-user in mind to create packaging that delivers shelf appeal and usability.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Technical knowledge of packaging, including materials, print processes, production limitations, and sustainability considerations.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Advanced proficiency in design software, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Awareness of the retail and grocery landscape, with experience designing for supermarket environments and understanding shopper behaviour.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Excellent attention to detail, ensuring consistency in layout, typography, and alignment with brand and regulatory standards.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Strong communication and collaboration skills, with confidence in presenting ideas and working closely across creative and commercial teams.</span></p></li></ul><p><span>Bonus if you have….</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Previous experience in 3D mockup or rendering tools</span></p></li><li><p><span>Previous experience with soft/hard goods and/or fashion</span></p></li></ul><p><span>Diversity and Inclusion.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Grind is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at our company.
