People are at the heart of our retail concept, and we want to invest in our staff and make the future extraordinary.</p><p> </p><p>As a result of our expansion plans, and our continued ongoing success we are seeking a dynamic Distribution Centre Manager to be based at our Regional Distribution Centre in Stowmarket.</p><p> </p><p><strong>About the Role</strong>:</p><p>The Distribution Centre Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational activities at the distribution centre, ensuring the timely and accurate flow of home, garden, and leisure products to retail stores and e-commerce customers. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective management of inventory, warehousing, and transportation operations while maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong>:</p><span><ul><li>Oversee all day-to-day DC operations, including goods receiving, storage, stock control, order picking, dispatch, and returns.</li><li>Manage seasonal peaks and promotional volumes typical in the home and garden retail calendar (e.g., spring gardening, summer outdoor furniture, Christmas ranges).</li><li>Ensure accurate stock control across a wide and diverse SKU range—from bulky garden furniture and DIY tools to perishable live plants.</li><li>Lead, coach, and develop a team of warehouse staff, team leaders, and supervisors, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.</li><li>Implement and maintain best practices in warehouse layout, racking systems, and flow for high-volume and seasonal inventory.</li><li>Ensure fulfilment of both B2B (retail store replenishment) and B2C (e-commerce) orders, meeting or exceeding service level agreements (SLAs).</li><li>Maintain strong HSE compliance standards for handling chemicals, outdoor equipment, and other goods.</li><li>Analyze operational data, track KPIs, and produce regular reports on cost efficiency, accuracy, and service performance.</li><li>Manage third-party carriers and delivery partners to ensure timely and damage-free transport.</li><li>Collaborate with merchandising, buying, and retail teams to forecast and plan stock availability and space management.</li><li>Drive warehouse automation, digital systems, and sustainability initiatives in line with business goals.</li></ul></span><p> </p><p><strong>Person Specification:</strong></p><span><ul><li>5+ years in warehouse or distribution management within a retail, home improvement, or seasonal goods environment.</li><li>Proven leadership experience in managing medium to large teams in a high-volume distribution center.</li><li>Strong knowledge of WMS, inventory systems, and e-commerce fulfilment.</li><li>Excellent understanding of health & safety, stock accuracy, and operational compliance.</li><li>Budget management and cost control experience.</li><li>Adaptable to fast-changing retail demands, particularly seasonal shifts and customer expectations.</li></ul></span><p><a name="Hlk103610774"><strong>What we offer:</strong></a></p><span><ul><li>Competitive salary</li><li>Pension</li><li>Long service awards</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Cycle to work scheme</li></ul></span><p> </p><p><strong>Position: </strong>Permanent, Full-time</p><p><strong>Location: </strong>Stowmarket, Suffolk</p></div><div class="row" style="margin-top: 5vh;"><div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-4 col-sm-offset-4">
