Whether it's through creating the UK's first compostable coffee pods, our plastic-free packaging or carbon-free shipping - we're on a mission to be the world's most sustainable coffee company.</span></p><p><span>In 2023, we created our charity, the Better Coffee Foundation, to undo the damage done by the global coffee industry - in our first year, we recovered 43 million pods' worth of ocean-bound plastic.</span></p><br><p><span>A bit about the role.</span></p><p><span>As the People and Culture Business Partner for Grind Coffee Roasters (GCR), you will act as the strategic people lead for our Roastery (warehouse &amp; production) and Head Office teams, supporting around 100 high-performing employees across two distinct business units. Reporting directly into the Director of People and Culture, you’ll be a trusted advisor to functional heads—shaping people strategies that accelerate performance, drive operational effectiveness, and fuel Grind’s growth.</span></p><p><span>This is a high-impact, hands-on role for an experienced HR generalist who thrives in complexity, leads with influence, and champions a progressive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.</span></p><br><p><span>Responsibilities:&nbsp;</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Champion and embed Grind’s culture by partnering with stakeholders to ensure values are lived across all units, shaping a consistent and vibrant employee experience.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Partner with unit leaders to understand evolving business needs and develop workforce plans that align talent with current and future organisational goals.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Work closely with managers to design effective team structures and job roles that support operational efficiency and strategic growth.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Support hiring managers throughout recruitment, ensuring attraction and selection processes are aligned to business needs and Grind’s values.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Act as a trusted business partner on employee relations, providing expert advice that balances compliance with a people-first approach.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Coach and upskill managers in real time, strengthening leadership capability in handling employee lifecycle.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Support managers in setting clear goals, giving regular feedback, and having meaningful development conversations - helping teams stay on track and grow in line with Grind’s values and expectations</span><span>.</span><span> Partner with the L&amp;D Business Partner to co-create development programs that build capability, support succession, and drive future readiness.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Collaborate with our Talent and People Operations colleagues to review compensation and benefits, ensuring competitive and compliant offerings that support attraction and retention.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Leverage people analytics in partnership with People Operations, using data to identify trends, track progress, and drive informed HR and business decisions.</span></p></li></ul><br><br><p><span>Required Skills, Experience and Attributes:&nbsp;</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Proven experience as an HR business partner or senior HR generalist.</span></p></li><li><p><span>In-depth knowledge of UK labour legislation and HR best practices.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience in effectively resolving complex employee relations issues.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Demonstrated experience leading HR initiatives in a dynamic and evolving business environment.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ability to drive and manage organisational change.&nbsp;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience effectively coaching and developing people leaders.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Personal experience as a line manager is beneficial.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Previous experience in an HR role within a rapidly growing startup environment, and/or a Roastery, warehouse or production facility is an asset.</span></p></li></ul><p><span>&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Qualifications:&nbsp;</span></p><ul><li><p><span>CIPD level 5 or equivalent – we know that the pathway to HR excellence is not always a qualification so if you have equivalent education or work experience, your application is welcome.</span></p></li></ul><p><span><br></span><span>Benefits:</span></p><p></p><ul><li><span><span>Mental Health Support:</span><span> Access to mental health support services.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Referral Bonus:</span><span> Earn bonuses for referring new employees who you think are a good addition for Grind.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Discounts online:</span><span> Up to 50% off our retail line online.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Food &amp; Drink Discounts:</span><span> 50% off food and drinks at our sites, plus two barista-made free coffees per day.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Team Events:</span><span> Participate in regular team events and enjoy a stocked office with healthy breakfast and snacks.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Family &amp; Friend Discounts:</span><span> Special discounts for family and friends.</span></span></li><li><span><span>Enhanced Maternity and Paternity:</span><span> Enjoy enhanced maternity and paternity benefits once eligible.</span></span></li></ul><br><p><span>Salary:</span></p><p><span>£60,000 - £65,000</span></p><p><span>&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Grind is an equal opportunity employer.
